Day 1 Arrive in Manado where you will be met upon arrival and taken to your hotel. Day 2 Up to three boat based leisure dives today in the Bunaken Marine National Park – a chance to get to know the area and enjoy the stunning coral reefs you can find here. Day 3 A focus on the Marine Ecology of the Bunaken Marine National Park and the quite different Lembeh Straits which you will visit later on. Although the coral reefs in this area are largely in excellent condition, there are some areas which have been damaged by dynamite fishing. In addition to further dives in the marine park, you will over the course of today and tomorrow be taken to see two different forms of coral reef regeneration programmes: one based around EcoReefs and the other using ReefBalls. Day 4 Mainly leisure diving in the Bunaken Marine National Park. After diving today you will be transferred overland to the Lembeh Straits. Day 5 The Lembeh Straits is the ‘muck diving’ capital of the world where renowned photographers come from far and wide to photograph masters of disguise such as Leaf Fish, Frog Fish and the recently discovered Mimic Octopus. Today will be dedicated to training in No-Touch Underwater Digital Photography. This course will include additional training in the behaviour of local marine species – an understanding of which is essential in first finding these animals, and secondly knowing how to take good photographs of them. Days 6 & 7 A focus on diving and making use of your photography skills. Day 7 After diving today you will be taken back to Manado for your last night here. Day 8 You will be transferred back to the airport for your flight home. If your main focus is underwater photography, you can visit Lembeh Straits first to conduct that part of the course first; or double up on photography in both locations with less focus on marine ecology other than to help you understand the behaviour of the subjects you are targeting. E6 slide processing and a save-to-cd service is available on site. |
