| South Pacific Wilderness Reef & Rainforest Dive Lodge | |||
|
The south west of Costa Rica provides a rare combination of excellent pelagic diving and intense wildlife on land. This is an ideal location to combine your passion for marine and terrestrial wildlife, or provide a truly inspiring location for both a diver and non-diver. The area we target for diving here is the Caño Island Biological Reserve which lies some 12 miles west of Drake's Bay on the Osa Peninsula. On land is the nearb whose Corcovado National Park was described by National Geographic magazine as the most wildlife intense place on earth. The Osa Peninsula is one of the few places in Latin America where rainforests come right down to the sea, and here they do so for mile upon mile of Pacific coastline. Whilst howler monkeys, coatis, pelicans and crocodiles skirt the coast, the offshore island of Caño provides some of the best near shore diving in Costa Rica. Dolphins are a regular sight, and you also have the chance to see Turtles, Barracuda, Manta Rays breaching, White-tip Sharks, and dense schools of fish. Depending upon the time of year, you might be lucky enough to see Humpback and Pilot Whales, Bill Sharks and the occasional Whale Shark.
