Dog sledding will give you a taste of the magic which will have you coming back for more. Escape the town for a few hours and transport your mind to a more idealistic way of life. Whilst travelling through the vast tundra you will come to really appreciate silence. The day begins at Basecamp Trappers Hotel, your guide will sit down with you and discuss the particular route that day, as everything depends on weather condition. Once informed we will take you to get all the essential equipment you need to keep you warm and enjoying the day ahead. You will then be transported out to the rustic style Trappers Station where you will be greeted by 90 Alaskan Huskies, all keen to take you out on a trip.
We want the experience to be as hands on as possible so you get a real feel what it would be like to use dogs on a daily basis, you will help the guide attach the dogs to the sleds and be given instructions on controlling them when out in the snow. While one is driving enjoying the excitement of driving the dogs the other person sitting can completely relax and take in the surroundings with many opportunities to switch you are able to get the full experience of being out in the wild. When you return you will help the handler with some basic care for the dogs to say thankyou for the trip and then we invite you into an old Trappers cabin for some hot drinks and biscuits, where you can share your encounters with the unknown. |
