Adventure packed day trip to the Skaftafell and Vatnajökull National Park. This trip includes a boat trip on the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon on Breiðamerkursandur and glacier walking on the Virkisjökull Outlet Glacier

This amazing adventure tour will take you into the Vatnajökull National Park in South East Iceland and onto the largest glacier in Europe.  The day will begin with a drive along the South Coast on the Skaftafell Express Coach.  You will be able to enjoy lunch at the National Park entrance in Skaftafell, before starting your adventure on the Virkisjökull Glacier.  There you will embark on a scenic hike onto the glacier itself, where you will be able to feel the ancient ice under our feet and all around.  The breathtaking Vatnajökull glacier will tower above you in all its magnificence, a sight that will no doubt stay in your memory forever.

Walking with crampons (metal spikes for the soles of our shoes) you will safely walk on the ice, marvelling along your way at the spectacular ice formations, deep sink holes and rugged ice crevasses.  Our specially trained, highly qualified glacier guides will be able to explain all about the Vatnajökull Glacier and the rough outlet glaciers, that like the Virkisjökull, descend from the main hub, towards the ocean.

From Virkisjökull you will continue onwards to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon on Breiðamerkursandur.  This area is a very worthwhile place of exploration and there is no better way than via one of the strange looking amphibian boats.  Onboard the boat, you will glide amidst impressive icebergs, which continually break away from the glacier tongue of Breiðamerkurjökull, producing an indescribable wonder world of ice.  After disembarking the boat, you will stop to refuel and unwind with a coffee and a warm Icelandic waffle before heading back to Reykjavík.
