Galapagos & Amazon Yacht & Lodge Safaris

These 15 day and 18 day journeys incorporate two of South America's most inspiring water, wilderness and wildlife areas and the planet's second highest mountain range.

Renowned as the inspiration for Darwin's Origin of Species, the Galapagos Islands require little introduction.  It is more than 170 years since the voyage of HMS Beagle, yet the diverse ocean and island ecosystems of the Galapagos remain foremost on the nature lovers' list of destinations to explore. Since December 2001 both the islands and the Marine Park have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 13 volcanic islands, born out of ongoing tectonic activity sit in the Pacific Ocean more than 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador.  Each has a landscape unique from its neighbour and an awe inspiring host of endemic and exotic flora and fauna.

The Amazon is a tropical wilderness unequalled in scale and cut throughout by its huge winding tributaries, ox bow lakes and narrow channels where nature crowds your every sense.  A visit to virgin Amazon rainforest can provide one of the most inspiring experiences of nature on earth.  We use the highest quality and most responsible lodges as bases from which to explore some of Ecuador's richest wildlife havens.

Of the Andes, Ecuador boasts an Avenue of Volcanoes which includes Chimborazo whose peak is the highest point from the centre of the earth; Cotopaxi whose near perfect cone is the world's highest active volcano; and Pichincha whose rocky outcrops stand high above its capital city, Quito.  On a clear day, you can see all of these peaks as you fly from Quito to Guayaquil en route to the Galapagos.  Our recommended 3-day extension focuses on the cloud forests of the Pacific-facing slopes of the Andes which are not only scenically and botanically stunning, but are part of the most diverse ecosystem on the planet: the Tropical Andes.  Click here for further details.
