Fram Museum is home to the world's strongest and most famous polar ship, the Fram, which holds records for sailing farthest north and farthest south than any other surface vessel. All visitors to the museum are welcome aboard the Fram to discover the wonders of this great ship and hear the stories of her remarkable past and Norwegian Polar Expeditions. Perfectly preserved, and displaying original interior and objects, visitors can learn how the crew and their dogs managed to survive in the cold and perilous waters of the Arctic and Antarctic.
Furthermore, visitors can read about the Fram's exciting polar adventures as told by three great polar heroes. Fridtjof Nansen's tells of his cross-country skiing enterprise across Greenland and the drift of the Fram across the Polar Ocean, Otto Sverdrup recounts his charting of the Arctic Ocean and Roald Amundsen describes his exciting race towards the South Pole. The exhibition is translated into nine languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese and Norwegian.
