The Oslo pass is a useful little card that gives the holder free admission into almost every museum in Oslo and unlimited free travel on the entire municipal transport system, which includes local trains. The card is valid for a set number of hours starting from when the ticket is first used. Passes can be bought in Oslo's tourist information offices and most hotels. For more information on the Oslo Pass, please visit Oslo's Official Travel and Visitor's Guide website: www.visitoslo.com/en/the-oslo-pass.49104.en.html
To And From The Airport Note: This advice does not apply for Oslo Torp Sandefjord airport which is twice the distance from the centre of Oslo. Oslo Torp is the airport served by Ryan Air, whilst most other airlines, including SAS, use Oslo Gardemoen.
Airport Express train - Departs Oslo S (Central Station) approximately every 10 minutes. (Duration approx. 19 minutes)
Airport Express Bus (SAS transport Service) - departs daily, every 20 minutes. Departs from the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel via the Oslo Bus Terminal, Clarion Royal Christiania Hotel, Helsfyr and Furuset. (Duration approx. 40 minutes).
Taxis Oslo Taxi, Norgestaxi and Taxi2 have special Airport Taxi offers, with fixed prices to and from Gardermoen airport. The price depends on the time of day, number of passengers and where in Oslo you are travelling to/from, however, generally taxis are quite expensive.
Trams There are eight tram routes through the city, interweaving through the city centre from east to west. Although much slower than the buses, trams offer an enjoyable alternative to getting around the city
On foot With its central location, and manageable size, it is realistic to explore much of Oslo on foot.
By Bike Not only is it cheap and environmentally friendly, cycling is a great way to get around the city. Maps are freely available from the Tourist Office, providing information on the various cycling lanes and paths throughout the city. Bikes can be rented for NOK60* from the Oslo Tourist Information Centre in front of the main railway station.
