Reforestation in Rainforest Concern's Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor

Rainforest4Climate projects involve habitat reconstruction in the world's most diverse zone: the Tropical Andes

Rainforest4Climate

It is an inescapable fact that travel involves the burning of fossil fuels and leads to the emission of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide (CO2). Where we can, we promote low impact travel which is why we favour sailing yachts, canoeing, kayaking and rafting over motorised transport.

As a company, Aqua-Firma is committed to being Carbon and Biodiversity Positive. Our first step towards achieving this is to minimise the CO2 emissions related to corporate travel, office heating etc. Where we are unable to eliminate our emissions, we offset them via Rainforest Concern's Rainforest4Carbon projects which protect existing rainforests in western Ecuador, and regenerate native habitat where it had been destroyed.  As if this is not reason enough to support Rainforest4Climate, the rainforest reserves are located to protect the watersheds which provide clean and regular supplies of drinking water for local communities.

We recommend that all of our clients offset the impact of their travel via the Rainforest4Climate initiative. For a long haul flight Rainforest4Climate recommends a donation to its projects of £20. For a medium haul flight the figure is £10 and for a short haul flight £5.

For our Arctic and Antarctic Voyages, we have calculated the average carbon dioxide emissions per person and will automatically offset each client's share via Rainforest4Climate.  And if you book your flights with us to reach your polar voyage then we will offset your flight emissions at our expense.

To see climate and rainforest conservation in action, we can arrange tailor made expert-led Wildlife & Conservation in Action journeys to the Choco-Andean cloud forests in north western Ecuador.  As well as seeing some of Ecuador's best preserved habitats and wildlife, you will be provided behind the scenes access to Rainforest4Climate project sites in Rainforest Concern's Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor.  By joining one of these trips, Aqua-Firma will sponsor 3 acres of rainforest per person in watershed reserves close to the Rainforest Concern Choco-Andean Rainforest Corridor.  This money will be invested into the Rainforest4Climate programme, which is enough to offset one year's carbon emissions for an average British person.

carbon neutral travel - emissions offsets - seuqester - carbon conservation - sequestration - global warming - greenhouse gas emissions - climate change
